we sip champagne when we thirstay

i turned 25 on saturday. it was an amazing celebratory weekend. no emphasis on celebrating jordan, but a simple desire to celebrate the life i've been given.

my friends (whose blogs can and should be read here and here) came prepared with special bday questions.
question one: birthday girl asks everyone else what they were doing when they turned 25.
question two: others ask birthday girl what it has taken her 25 years to learn.

i got to hear a lot of fun stories about what my friends were doing in life when they were my age. and i got to think about some of the things i've been learning.

what has it taken me 25 years to learn?

it has taken me 25 years to learn just how intensely i am loved.

where i am today is drastically different from where i have ever been before. today i have so much love in my heart; love that has been received and love that is ready to be given.

i've had people comment on my over-use of the word "love" throughout my life. i love music. i love working out. i love my family. i love glitter. i love love. i love california. i love so many of my friends. i have been in love. i am in love...with coffee, beer, and baseball  :) you get the picture. anyway, i'm learning that these expressions of love don't need to be restricted. the more love you can share with the world, the better. i have always been and will forever continue to be a giver of love.

and in this last year, i have grown in my ability to be a receiver of love. i quit running from the people who have loved me most. i quit running from the One who has loved me most. and in giving up this fight, i have discovered just how deeply this love flows.

so...24...it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
and 25...i'm in love.

i wish that you would always stay

"tonight i'll burn the lyrics, 'cause every chorus was your name"

lately i've been having some of those moments that cause me to stop, take a second, and say to myself, "this is your life." i hate to sound like one of those girls who uses her media opportunities to make her life sound like it's straight off the hills. i also hate when people try to prove to their onlookers that they have an amazing life, worthy of everyone's envy. so not what i'm going for. regardless, there are moments worth documenting, and this is my blog so...

i feel like my life is always moving so quickly. and because i am constantly on the go, i've found that i often have to consciously tell myself to be present in the moment. the way that people carry cameras with them to develop a picture of something great that they saw, i am trying to carry...a heart camera...so that i can capture the really great moments and feelings and moods that i get the pleasure of experiencing on this journey.

i'm not very good at taking pictures. well...anyone can whip out a camera and snap a photo. what i mean is, i'm not very good at taking those 20 seconds to create the memory. i tend to fly right through all of the great experiences. so...i'm going to try something new. my new mission is to take those 20 seconds to grab the camera that exists within, capture the moment, and create the memory.

some recent additions to my emotional scrapbook:

great lyrics (see laundry room lyrics posted above)
sitting on a friend's couch, with nothing to do but enjoy the company
seeing an adorable movie in a tiny old theater and walking back to the car in the rain
getting asked out by a cute boy
...going on the date with the cute boy :)
taking on new projects
discovering and enjoying the common bonds you share with your friends
seeing the avett brothers on stage
the hospitality of others
the return of a dear friend

weekend update with jordache:

the birthday was lovely. highlights...

fun phone convos with mi familia

fun new sparkly dress
{which did, in fact, inevitably get pesto on it, but whatevs}

disclaimer: this photo wasn't actually taken on my bday, but i'm kind of a lame-o and neglect the camera when i should be taking pictures

and the rest of the weekend was just as delicious...

fun, summerish party- swimming, bbq, and new friends

and the weekend concluded with a fun adventure yesterday...
...i don't actually remember where we were at this point

yummy clam chowder

so why don't we sleep all, sleep all day

confession: i accidentally slept until 10:45 this morning. i set my alarm for 9:30, and when i accidentally hit "disable" instead of "snooze," i decided i really didn't care.

i haven't done that in a while. let me be real honest with you...it felt great.

hoping they left their hearts in san francisco...

here is an update on my vacation with mom and dad. yes, i consider it to have been a vacation for all of us. so lovely. sorry several pictures, but we did a lot that week!

umm...definitely my favorite winery ever!!

the ride up to our tasting.

mom in dad in front of beautiful sonoma.
mom bought dad's outfit. he won't wear it in oklahoma, but thought he could in cali.
dad says: "you can dress young, but it doesn't change the fact that you're old."
mom says: "you can be old, but you can always look and feel young."

at muir woods.
i love this picture :)

me with mi madre at our dinner on the water. my mommy is pretty.

sausalito. love it so much.

pier 39. so glad the sea lions are back!!

this was actually my first time to do the cable cars. not overrated at all...actually great.

my bridge and my parents...dream come true.

so...the giants won. we had a blast {even from the bleachers}. parents met boy and approved {no surprise there...he's completely presh}. i got plenty of time in the hotel hot tub. apartment looks drastically different {more to come on this}. overall it was a fabulous week. in the running for vh1's best week ever {jordan's edition, anyway}.

i'm just waiting on them to tell me when they'll be making the move. oh and squeezing my sister + her familia and my best friend in the back of the u-haul. hmm...a girl can dream.

i will catch his warm stare, on our island in the blue bay

so...the last two tuesdays have given me a little bit of inspiration.

i'm thinking about what i want to do with my summer. i'm already loving my time off- way too much, in fact. i can already tell that august really is going to be a wicked month for me, as i will be forced to return to school. wait! wait! wait! i'm getting ahead of myself... the theme of this post is
summer.

and today i'm setting some summer goals. here we go:

1.
first and foremost.
attend as many dance classes as possible
{tuesday hip hop in the city- favorite, zumba, more hip hop, and i'd be lying if i said that the tease class didn't peak my interest...just saying.}

2.
beach it up
{stinson, dillon, bolinas, and perhaps some new discoveries?}

3.
kayak
{one of those things boy and i talk about doing, but have yet to actually pursue}

4.
read
{edna o'brien has really got my attention right now, it might be fun to have a themed summer featuring one author, yes? although i really do want to read eat pray love. i bought it like 3 years ago, and never got around to it, but after seeing the movie preview, i really feel compelled to read it. something that i find totally lame by the way. i wish i would've read it 3 years ago instead of now, when every twenty-something female in the country will be reading it. is it stupid for me to feel that way?}

5.
immerse myself in major league baseball
{you knew it was coming. i'm sorry, i just love it so much. i really need to call the cable company so that i don't have to go to a brewery or at&t park every time i want to watch a game}

6.
get my apartment in order
{not just livable. not just clean. home.}

7.
get a pedicure

8.
eat/drink my mila
{whole raw food, sooo good for me. just do it, jordan.}

9.
get some girl friends

10.
and this is a biggy,
forward my time, energy, thoughts, and heart into my life.
{be fully invested in all that i have going on. in marin. in my apartment. at my job. when i work out. when i adventure. not just floating through life, but passionately enjoying all that i get to do.}

so that's the plan. and i have just one thing to say to myself in this pursuit: get it.

{ps.}
umm...hello? where is my head? as i was reading through my friends comments, i realized that i forgot to ask what YOUR summer goals/plans are??? please share!
