all eyes on me, in the center of the ring

about a year ago, i received a text from my best friend {in the midst of one of my emotional crises, no doubt} that said,
"lol you care way too much about what people think. RELAX!"
and i saved it so that i can look back when i need to be reminded of this tendency of mine.

well...last night a received another tool of empowerment to assist me in this struggle...

this rad little kid, with his missing front teeth and awesome feather-like ponytail atop his head, became an inspiration of mine. when he and his party arrived at the game, he confidently walked up to his seat and began to enjoy, leaving the rest of the group behind as they stood and timidly configured a plan just for sitting down. he didn't need any help. he didn't want to sit and think through the effect his actions would have on everyone around him. he was just ready for the party to begin.

the phrase that comes to mind when i look at him is this:
"I DO WHAT I WANT!"

and while i think he might be just a bit more bold than most children his age, he does possess a quality that i fear has been stolen from me in my journey into adulthood.

of course as an adult this looks very different; i want to be considerate of others and i want to make good decisions for myself. i cannot simply walk through life saying, "I DO WHAT I WANT!" i think i know some people like this, and they aren't very fun to get close to.

all i'm saying is:
if i suddenly get the urge to go to a giants game with my hair in a tiny little ponytail above my face...
{i'm going to make everyone think it's this season's latest trend}

if i want to overcome my timidity and quit thinking so much about everything...
{i'm going to simply walk straight up to my seat and let the game begin}

and if by some horrible chance my two front teeth somehow get knocked out of my mouth, well...
{i'm going to make it look like i did it on purpose}

thanks for makin' me a fighter

i'm about to start a fight and there is no one around to hold me back.

meet {what i now KNOW to be} the villain of the century...

he's stubborn.
he's tough.
he's ugly.
he's got the joker, ursula, and voldemort beat by a hundred-fold.

time for this bad boy to come down so that i can put up my cute, sweet shabby chic curtain.
grrrrr....

and i was like, why are you so obsessed with me?

last night, in class, i was reminded of one of my all time favorite movie moments.
thought i would share it with you today.

i just love this so much. it warms my <3 a little bit.

and confession: shall we dance makes me cry every time i watch it.
i can just hear you now: "jordan, this movie has jlo in it. no way is it tear-worthy!"
but whatevs. it's so sweet. don't judge.

on another note, i am currently in chick-empowerment-mode when it comes to my music these days. obviously. my itunes play count now holds an embarrassing record next to that delicious little tune i {finally} discovered yesterday!

SO...do you have any good suggestions for me? sometimes i have trouble branching out from the mainstream stuff, but i know there must be some other raging, angry girls out there, just waiting to meet my ears. thoughts?

also, it's a ladies only shift at starbucks today. no boys behind the counter. i kind of love that.

jordan's overall hump day attitude: i love being a girl.

i love love...
but don't mess with me.

"i'm out of this world, come with me to my planet. get you on my level, do you think that you can handle it?"

disclaimer: this is not the result of poor treatment. not jaded. happy :)

have you ever thrown a fist full of glitter in the air

this morning i made a stop for coffee on my way to work.
what's new, right?
well this trip was extra...special slash bizarre.

as i was waiting for my drink,
this group of swedish men
{we're talking like eight of them}
seemed to completely take over the store

speaking swedish, congregating in one large huddle, and
staring at the women against the wall.

feeling slightly violated, and yet still completely in awe,
i immediately began wondering what they would all be doing
together
in this starbucks
on this day
???

and to top it off,
they all had on tshirts that said,
"grateful dad"

...interesting.

anyway, happy friday!!!
so excited for the weekend {as always}!
hoping to get some serious work done on the apt.

love.

"have you ever wished for an endless night? lassoed the moon and the stars, and pulled that rope tight? have you ever held your breath and asked yourself will it ever be better than tonight?"
{pink}
confession: i <3 pink.

girls really do just wanna have fun

umm...i love kids. i really really do.

these two are completely presh.
{in all of tonight's pictures, olivia was so close to the computer that it looks like she is missing her nose}
hee hee

here's what happens every time i have a play date with them:
1. i get attacked by their dog, who is just too incredibly cute feisty.
2. the girls beat the dog, then i lead him safely away from them, and into the parents room.
3. fiesta time! which includes {but is not limited to}:
  • moving our hips {like yeah} to party in the usa
  • tent-building, science experiments, and/or photo sessions
  • tracing our hands and coloring in jewelry and painted nails
  • drinking silk {or as they call it, smilk} :)
  • back scratching/story time

tonight gabby said,
"we don't have school tomorrow because of martin luther king.
it's his birthday, but he died. and he didn't even get to see the world!"

between that and her explanation of the "lucky spot"
on her back, as i was scratching it,
i found myself laughing long after the girls fell asleep.

you're a hot mess & i'm fallin' for you

okay so i probably shouldn't be blogging right now, considering i have to write 3 papers, BUT...what can i say?

something that is on my mind this morning:

i bite my lip.

it's just something i do, and i've done it for as long as i can remember. i know that it is an awful habit, and i have no idea how it got started, but i'm just not sure that it is something i can be cured of.

i took a class in college called The Abused, and it got me all paranoid because my professor told us that things like biting your lip or picking at your cuticles are mild forms of self-mutilation! that seems a bit extreme right? so that entire semester i worked and worked to keep from biting my lip. that clearly got me nowhere.

anyway, i'm only writing about this because i think that i am beginning to develop a complex about it. i mean...what does this say about me? hopefully nothing, but for whatever reason, it has me feeling mildly concerned. i guess i'm also writing about it because my lip hurts :)

i'll be honest, i just feel like a little bit of a mess today. not physically, i actually think i look kind of cute (hee hee), but my mind is all over the place. so much that i couldn't even sleep this morning! this is huge for me; if there is one thing i do well, it is sleep. i don't know...maybe it is the end of the semester that has me in this condition. or perhaps my messy room. i just feel like things are slightly out of whack this week. maybe tonight's study break should consist of the nyc ballet workout video that i got from the library the other day. i need to clear my head.

what do you do to clear your head? i need some suggestions. in the mean time, i will press on in my hot mess ways...
my celebrity twin for the week

love. love. love.
